History :: Titanic went under water today (Level 3)

Titanic went under water today
Titanic was one of the three gigantic ships which were made at the beginning of 20th century. It took two years to make such a ship. Titanic started its journey from Southampton and sank on 15th April 1912.

The ship was 269 metres long and 28 metre wide. 885 staff members worked on the ship. People thought that it was impossible for the ship to sink. This idea had catastrophic consequences. When the ship hit the iceberg and started to go down, there weren’t enough lifeboats for all the passengers. The ship carried 2223 people on board and there were only 1178 places in all the lifeboats. Thanks to this and other big mistakes 1517 people found their death in the Atlantic.

The other two gigantic ships Olympic and Gigantic were also destroyed in disasters. It’s unbelievable but there is one lady Violet Jessop who survived all the disasters. She worked for the company as a stewardess and she escaped in a lifeboat.

You can see the ship in the video.
